Overview The Littleton and Harestock Show Society organises a village show that takes place annually on and around the first Saturday in September at Littleton Recreation Ground. The main elements of the show are: • A Pet Show for domestic pets that takes place on the Thursday • The Main Show, which takes place on the Saturday and runs from 12:00 to 18:00 • An Evening Event, which takes place in the show marquee on the Saturday Evening and runs from 19:00 to 23:00 Planning for the show starts in January and finishes in November with the Annual General Meeting of the Show Society. Show Description The Flower and Craft Shows These take place in a large marquee (190ft x 40ft), which is hired from a professional marquee company, who erect it in the week before the show and dismantle it afterwards. The Flower Show consists of competitions for grown produce, art and craft exhibits and the Craft show consists of a number of professional crafts-people exhibiting and selling their goods. Hired Attractions There are always several attractions which are provided by commercial organizations who manage the erection, operation and dismantling of their equipment. These typically include children’s funfair rides, a climbing wall, a punch and judy show, a marching band, a jazz band, ferret racing, circus skills, a giant scalextric, a flight simulator and a fire juggler. Some of these will perform in a marked out arena and some will operate stalls. Fete Stalls These are typical garden fete games such as crockery smashing, coconut shy, balls in a bucket, hoopla, wheel of fortune etc. and less active stalls such as a book stall, plant stall, bric-a-brac, a model boat club etc. There are usually 20 – 25 such stalls. Refreshments The Show Society operates its own refreshment stalls which include tea and cakes and a barbecue. We also hire commercial food and drink providers such as a bar, ice cream stall and food stalls.

Sadly, we have had to cancel the 2020 and 2021 shows because of the Covid-19 pandemic but expect to be back in business in 2022. Would you like someth...
