About

Only Cowards Carry was established after 17 year old Jay Whiston was fatally stabbed on the 8th September 2012, this devastated the whole community. Caroline, Jays mother and the team work tirelessly to promote the charity so that children and young people understand the stark facts and true reality of a knife crime, The services include interactive and engaging workshops, educating and changing the mindset of children and young people, supporting victims, inspiring children and young people to get involved with positive activities thus diverting them away from violent crime, increasing community safety, standing for tougher action against knife and weapons crime and helping to reduce the number of incidences of violent crime. The objective of the charity are: - to maintain the advice of reporting to the appropriate authorities that someone is carrying a weapon - to maintain the support and informed advice to communities and young people to reduce youth violence - to reduce serious violence involving young people as victims of knife crime and as offenders - to reduce the carrying of weapons by young people on the streets of Essex - to encourage further use of the knife amnesty bins
