Skylarks is an independent charity which supports families who have children with any additional needs and disabilities. We are open to anyone from anywhere who has a child or young person aged 0-25, whether formally diagnosed or not. We are based in Twickenham and Hounslow. The range of activities these volunteers provide ranges from reception and welcome desk, playing with children, singing, playing music, Makaton signing, setting up and putting away toys, making teas and coffees, talking to and supporting parents, welcoming visitors and showing them around, running an art table, supervising a sensory room, providing massage, cranial osteopathy and other complementary therapies or running talks or offering workshops on your area of expertise, helping in drama, cookery, sewing or art classes or helping on trips out such as to Kew Gardens, Richmond Park, ice skating, cycling or nature trails. Some volunteers help us behind the scenes, with social media, surveys, HR advice, research, back-burner projects and many other activities according to their skills. We also offer occasional activities at other times away from our usual venue, such as attending fairs and public events and volunteers are very welcome to help at any of these activities on an ad hoc basis.
