Lunch Club Volunteer

Age UK Bexley’s lunch club will provide a safe space for older people in Bexley to come and enjoy a two or three course lunch. The club will allow a chance for socialisation and to support ending isolation among older people in the borough.
What skills do I need?
To attend and support clients at our weekly lunch club
Responsibilities
- Volunteer within Age UK Bexley policies and procedures
- Provide support to the clients who are in attendance
- Support pub staff where needed
- Attend regular meetings and an annual review meeting as arranged by the Community Development project officer
- To liaise with pub staff and feed back to the Community Development project officer
- Take a register of clients each week
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Attend mandatory training sessions as and when required
- A genuine interest and concern for older people
- Good communication skills
- Computer literate
- Knowledge and/or awareness of issues affecting older people
Person Specification:
- Confident and able to build rapport easily
- Reliability and trustworthiness
- Good listening and communication skills
- Organised and able to keep accurate records
- Shows a commitment to inclusion and diversity and lifting the barriers of inclusion for older people (essential)
