Age UK Bexley’s lunch club will provide a safe space for older people in Bexley to come and enjoy a two or three course lunch. The club will allow a chance for socialisation and to support ending isolation among older people in the borough.

What skills do I need?

To attend and support clients at our weekly lunch club

Responsibilities

  • Volunteer within Age UK Bexley policies and procedures
  • Provide support to the clients who are in attendance
  • Support pub staff where needed
  • Attend regular meetings and an annual review meeting as arranged by the Community Development project officer
  • To liaise with pub staff and feed back to the Community Development project officer
  • Take a register of clients each week

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Attend mandatory training sessions as and when required
  • A genuine interest and concern for older people
  • Good communication skills
  • Computer literate
  • Knowledge and/or awareness of issues affecting older people

Person Specification:

  • Confident and able to build rapport easily
  • Reliability and trustworthiness
  • Good listening and communication skills
  • Organised and able to keep accurate records
  • Shows a commitment to inclusion and diversity and lifting the barriers of inclusion for older people (essential)
