Volunteering offers benefits to Anchor, our residents and the individual volunteer. The volunteer offers their time, life skills and experience, which provides a valuable extra service to that already offered by our paid colleagues.

. Volunteers would assist the activity coordinator with: setting up for games afternoons, assisting residents during crafts afternoon and quiz afternoons, set up for physical activities such as table tennis, assist in running the tuck shop and card booth, heling with domestic task such as making teas and coffees for attendees and clean up after activities.

What skills do I need?

Most volunteering roles don’t require any special skills or qualifications, but volunteers do need to be friendly and approachable. A volunteer should have good listening and interpersonal skills, be caring, non-judgemental and have an empathy for older people.
