Be the welcoming face of The Beehive
Looking for a volunteer role where you can meet people, make a difference, and be right at the heart of a busy community hub? As a Receptionist at The Beehive, you’ll play a key role in creating a warm, friendly, and supportive environment for everyone who walks through the door.
You’ll be the first point of contact—greeting visitors with professionalism and kindness, helping them find the right services, and making sure their experience is smooth from start to finish.
What you'll be doing:
- Welcoming visitors in a friendly, non-judgmental way
- Providing information about organisations based in The Beehive and signposting to other services
- Managing the telephone switchboard and notifying teams when visitors arrive
- Taking accurate messages and passing them on via email
- Operating entry systems for the building and car park, and ensuring visitors sign in correctly
- Supporting room bookings—checking schedules, guiding visitors, and locking rooms after use
- Assisting with room set-up for hirers
- Keeping noticeboards tidy, relevant, and up to date
- Organising and tidying the book table
- Sorting post into the correct organisation pigeonholes
- Helping with occasional admin tasks

What skills do I need?
What we're looking for:
- Confidence using computers (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
- A calm, professional approach—even in busy or challenging situations
- Clear and friendly communication skills with people from all walks of life
- Telephone or switchboard experience is helpful, but full training will be provided

The volunteer shift we currently need filling is Friday, 9am till 1pm. However, there may be a chance to pick up some ad hoc shifts in the future which could be 9am till 1pm or 1pm till 4pm, Monday to Friday
