Are you passionate about making a difference to the lives of people experiencing disability?
We are REMAP, a national charity that designs and makes bespoke equipment for disabled people. We aim to enhance the quality of life for our clients and create a more inclusive and accessible society – one person at a time.
Calling all engineers, designers, problem solvers and craftsman - REMAP are looking for people to design and make custom equipment for individual clients when nothing can be found commercially that suits their needs.
One of the most rewarding volunteer roles for people who love to use their creative skills.
You will be working directly with our clients to understand the specific issue they are facing; you will design and make a bespoke piece of equipment for them; then experience first-hand the positive change it makes to their life.
We utilise many skills: woodwork, metal work, electronics, 3D printing, working with textiles, and so on.
You will be joining a small friendly team, who work individually and together to achieve the best possible outcome for our clients.
- At least one practical skill that can be useful in designing and making items of equipment
- Access to your own tools and workshop (or can access these)
- Able to drive or have good transport links
- Have access to a secure pc and able to use its basic functionality
- Good problem solver, with the ability to listen well and understand someone’s needs
- Willing to undertake a DBS (Criminal Record Check) – REMAP covers cost
- Able to follow Remap policies and procedures
- Able to understand and apply our risk management procedure (with guidance)
- Able and committed to keeping people’s personal details safe
- Enjoy working as part of a team
