Do you want to help change the lives of disabled people in your local area? Are you looking for a way to give back to the community and make a real difference? Volunteering with REMAP could be for you. REMAP is the UK’s only charity providing custom-made equipment, free of charge, for disabled people. Every year we help around 3,000 individuals through our network of over 60 local branches and more than 800 volunteers. Our Essex South branch is currently looking to recruit a volunteer Health Advisor (Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist). In this specialist role, you will provide clinical guidance and advice to our volunteer Engineers and Makers as they design and create bespoke aids, adaptations, and equipment for disabled clients. You will be joining a small, friendly team working across the SS postcode area. Our volunteers use practical problem-solving and engineering skills to create equipment tailored to each client’s individual needs. Your professional input will help ensure that solutions are safe, appropriate, and achieve the best possible outcomes for the client. The role involves attending a team meeting on the third Monday evening of each month in Rochford. These meetings are where volunteers discuss ongoing cases, share ideas, support one another, and also where new referrals are allocated. For some medically complex cases, we may ask you to accompany a volunteer on a client visit to provide additional clinical insight.

What skills do I need?

You will need to be a qualified Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist who has practised within the past 3 years.
