Gardening can be a great way to stay active and enhance your wellbeing in nature.  We’re looking for volunteer gardeners to help us care for the Museum’s gardens and grounds.

You might be new to gardening or a seasoned professional; you just need an interest in gardening and happy doing physical work outside.  This is a great opportunity to build your knowledge of gardening and meet people with similar interests.

In this role you will:

·       Take part in seasonal planting and growing of our borders and planters

·       Help maintain the gardens by weeding, pruning, watering and clearing leaves

·       Use landscaping equipment to cut back hedges and grass

·       Contribute ideas to the annual planning group and development of our outdoor spaces.

You will have a name contact from the Museum team and there will be a duty manager on the day to support you who may be Debbie Thomas, the Museum Manager, or James Gulleford, the Assistant Museum Manager.

If you have any questions or would like to apply in a different format, please contact us at: [email protected]

What skills do I need?

We are looking for someone who is:

·       Happy working outdoors

·       Passionate about gardening or horticulture and willing to learn

·       Willing to do physical work - a range of tasks are often available
