About the Role
We are looking for a Volunteer Grant Writer to help us identify and apply for funding from trusts, foundations, and other grant-making bodies. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong writing skills who wants to make a real difference while developing or applying their expertise in grant writing.
You’ll play a key role in helping us secure the resources we need to sustain and expand our services.
This volunteer role is flexible; we can adapt to your availability and preferred working pattern. You’ll have the option to work from home, in our Southend office, or a combination of both.
If you demonstrate strong creative or persuasive writing ability, we’ll also sponsor you to attend a grant writing course to build your confidence and expertise.

Key Responsibilities
• Research potential funding opportunities from trusts, foundations, and grant-making organisations.
• Draft, edit, and submit compelling grant and trust applications.
• Maintain a schedule of funding deadlines and reporting requirements.
• Work closely with the Lady McAdden team to gather project information, outcomes, and data to support applications.
• Support the development of a pipeline of future funding opportunities.
• (Optional) Assist in creating fundraising content, donor stories, or impact reports as part of our wider communications work.

What skills do I need?

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to write clearly and persuasively.
• Organised and self-motivated, with the ability to manage your own time.
• Interest in charitable work and a desire to support Lady McAdden’s mission.
Desirable:
• Previous experience in writing trust, foundations and grant or funding applications (not essential).
• Experience in fundraising, research, or communications.
• Creative writing ability and enthusiasm to learn.

Location

This opportunity is available Countywide.
