Your caring touch can make a difficult day a little easier.
When someone is affected by cancer, life can feel overwhelming. Alongside the physical effects of treatment, many people experience anxiety, fear, fatigue and isolation. Sometimes, what they need most is simply an hour to relax, feel cared for and reconnect with themselves.
At Wessex Cancer Support, we're looking for compassionate Volunteer Complementary Therapists to help create those moments.
By generously giving your time and skills, you'll provide therapies that help people affected by cancer feel calmer, more comfortable and emotionally supported. While you may never fully know the difference you've made, many of our clients tell us that these sessions are among the highlights of their week—offering comfort, hope and a chance to simply breathe.
What you'll be doing
You'll provide complementary therapy sessions in one of our welcoming cancer support centres, which are based in Bournemouth, Chandlers Ford, Hythe and the Isle of Wight, offering a safe and nurturing space where clients can relax and focus on their own wellbeing.
Depending on your qualifications, this may include:
Every session is about more than the therapy itself—it's about helping someone feel seen, valued and supported at a time when they need it most.
Help someone feel like themselves again.
A single therapy session can't take cancer away—but it can ease anxiety, restore confidence, reduce stress and remind someone that they are cared for.
If you'd like to use your skills to bring comfort, hope and wellbeing to people affected by cancer, we'd be delighted to welcome you to the Wessex Cancer Support family.
We're looking for qualified therapists who are kind, compassionate and passionate about helping others.
You'll need to:
Previous experience supporting people affected by cancer isn't essential. We'll provide a full induction, ongoing support and training to help you feel confident in your role.
What you'll gain:
Volunteering with us isn't just about giving back—it's about becoming part of a community that believes no one should face cancer alone.
As a volunteer, you'll:
Time commitment:
Whether you can give a few hours each week or fortnight, we'd love to hear from you. We'll work with you to find a volunteering pattern that fits around your existing commitments.
