At Wickham Festival, we ask volunteers to work 3 x 4/5 hours shifts over the festival weekend in return for free entry to the festival.

Dates: Thursday 30th July - Sunday 2nd August 2026.

What skills do I need?

A Wickham Festival Steward should be able to:

  • Be friendly, approachable, and welcoming to festival goers.
  • Communicate clearly and confidently with members of the public and other staff.
  • Give accurate directions and basic festival information.
  • Remain calm under pressure and use good judgement.
  • Stay alert and maintain good situational awareness.
  • Observe and be able to report issues promptly to Security, First Aid, or a Steward Leader where appropriate.
  • Check wristbands, passes, and access permissions accurately.
  • Follow instructions and adapt to changing roles or priorities.
  • Work well as part of a team and support fellow stewards.
  • Be reliable, punctual, and attend all allocated shifts.
  • Help manage queues, crowds, and pedestrian flow safely.
  • Keep emergency exits, access routes, and emergency access lanes clear.
  • Treat everyone with respect, patience, and fairness, including disabled customers and those requiring additional assistance.
  • Use radios professionally (where issued) and pass on clear, concise information.
  • Prioritise the safety and wellbeing of festival goers, staff, volunteers, and themselves at all times.
