The Blue T’ s are a friendly group of diverse individuals who volunteer and support our members, the Artistic Director, Choreographer and SEN Inclusion Officer in sessions and performances. They work together to ensure that members are able to fully participate in all areas of the performing arts in line with our inclusive ethos. Our members in this group are aged 4-6 years old.
Founded in 2004, The Habbit Factory (THF) is an
inclusive arts organisation working with children and young people in the
London Borough of Havering – the 5th lowest child poverty rate in Greater London. As the only organisation that supports
disability arts in the borough and through a targeted network of partners; our
work effectively helps people facing higher-than-average levels of exclusion
and deprivation.
Our approach is built on the principles of inclusivity, which welcomes everyone; regardless of background, race and/or disability. In doing so, we welcome some of the most excluded and disadvantaged groups in the UK – children and young people who don’t see themselves as artists and don’t have access to any creative engagement or provision.
We do this because we believe art has the power to effect change. Evidence continues to suggest that the creative arts is one of the most powerful tools to bring people together, breaking down social and cultural barriers, whilst helping the most vulnerable to lead a fulfilling and dignified life.
The role includes:
· Offering buddy support in sessions, rehearsals, and performances to members regardless of needs
· To be confident in leading a small group of members
· Assist in teaching/taking part in dance, drama, singing, and games. (Experience is not necessary)
· Show enthusiasm during the session and encourage all members to do the same
· Offer emotional support to members when required
· Meet and greet members upon arrival at sessions, rehearsals, and performance days
· Open and direct communication
· The Ability to work within a team
The right volunteer should have the following skills and expereince: -
· Use your initiative
· Friendly and approachable
· Interest in The Habbit Factory work and ethos
· Active
· Flexible approach
· Open minded
· Committed to making a change
