When people attend appointments they can often be worried; especially when finding their clinic location. With St George's being a busy environment with zoned areas it could be a challenge for visitors to navigate when attending the hub and that's why we are looking for volunteers to join our team. 

Volunteers will play a crucial role in supporting visitors to feel at ease when navigating the hub and accessing services, information and support. 

Our Health Hub Volunteers are designed to be a warm and welcoming support to patients and visitors providing the best experience for everyone accessing services. 

The primary role of Health Hub Volunteers are:

- To support patients and visitors to feel at ease, by welcoming them, directing or escorting them to their location.

A minimum of 6 months commitment is required for this role

- To act as the main point of contact at the information/help desks by offering a welcoming and professional service to our patients, visitors and staff by generally being a friendly face for all to see.

- Help patients and visitors to self-check in at their designated destination

- To provide reassurance, information or advice on the local community-based services available to patients and visitors by supporting them to access the Joy App.

- Support patients who may feel isolated or anxious to feel at ease by offering companionship 

- To support visitors and relatives wishing to give feedback regarding their experience whilst engaging services at St George's via the friends and family surveys 

We are looking for volunteers that can cover  any of the following shifts across all 7 days:

8am - 12pm, 12 - 4pm, 4 - 8pm

Please note: volunteering hours are not to exceed 6 hours per day and 3 days per week







What skills do I need?

The Health Hub Volunteer Role is versatile, therefore we are looking for volunteers who can adapt and turn their hand to a variety of tasks. The ideal volunteer would have the following skills:-

- Be kind, caring and responsive to individual needs

- Have the desire to want to provide the very best outcomes for those attending the hub

- Be committed and dedicated to providing excellent customer service 

- Have  patience and empathy towards a variety of service users

- Have the ability to adapt communication styles 

The role will require you to be able to navigate the building and services across multiple floors.
