Shropshire Supports Refugees (SSR), established in 2016, provides relief and support to vulnerable families displaced by unrest in their home countries and now relocating to Shropshire.

SSR runs an Energy Advice Project designed to offer energy-efficiency assessments, practical recommendations, and guidance on energy-saving strategies for vulnerable individuals, including displaced people living in Shropshire. This role will be based at our Shrewsbury Hub with Home visits organised in advanced and supported by a staff member. 

We are seeking volunteers who want to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives by helping improve their financial wellbeing and ensuring they can stay warm, safe, and healthy at home. Volunteers will work closely with our Energy Advisor to deliver this vital support.

What skills do I need?

We provide a comprehensive induction, on-going training and support to all our volunteers however there are some skills we require you to have that are specific to this role:

  • Be warm and welcoming to all
  • Enthusiastic and passionate about working with refugees, migrants and asylum seekers
  • Willingness to work as part of a team
  • Confident  phone manner
  • Organized 
  • General understanding of energy statements.
  • Basic IT skills to help search for new energy deals.


Please note this role will require some training to be completed before starting
