Dementia Support Group Volunteers -Portsmouth

We are in the process of creating a twice monthly community support group for Veterans living with Dementia and their families in Portsmouth following on from the tremendous success of other groups across Hampshire. Our groups provide a warm welcome, a place of friendship, support, activities and a carers support session.

Our volunteers provide a warm welcome, friendship, are involved in the activities and are the pinnacle of the success of the group. These are exciting times for the development of support services for Veterans Living with Dementia in Portsmouth and surrounding areas

* Veterans are those who have served in the Armed Forces, Merchant Navy and Emergency Services who are living with dementia. We also support anyone who has historical links with the services and families who journey with them

What skills do I need?

Able to chat with people of differing needs Be hands on and be active in the group A good communicator Team Player Reliability - be able to commit to attending except holidays Be willing to undertake our in-house training sessions as needed
