Volunteer Befriending Role
Are you looking for a meaningful placement where you can gain valuable experience while supporting individuals in need? Join our Volunteer Befriending Programme at We Are Listening and make a real impact through compassionate phone conversations and letter writing.
About the Role
As a Volunteer Befriender, you will connect with individuals who are feeling isolated and vulnerable. Through regular phone calls or letter exchanges, you’ll provide much-needed companionship and emotional support. This is a fantastic opportunity to enhance your skills and gain experience working in an empathetic, client-focused environment.
How It Works
• Matching Process: We will match you with a client based on their preferences and your availability, ensuring a personalised experience
• Remote Support: All interactions will be conducted via phone calls or letter writing, providing flexibility for both you and the client
• Training and Support: You will receive comprehensive training to prepare you for the role, with ongoing supervision and guidance throughout the placement
Placement Duration and Commitment
• Duration: The placement lasts a minimum of 6 months, with the possibility to extend depending on mutual agreement
• Commitment: We ask for a commitment of 1-2 hours per week, including time for calls, letter writing, and supervision
