 As a volunteer digital champion, you will play a crucial role in supporting individuals in your community to improve their digital skills. Your primary responsibilities will include: 

  1. One to one support: provide friendly and patient one-to-one assistance to people who want to learn how to use computers, smartphones or the internet. Help them with tasks like setting up email accounts, using social media or browsing the web.

  2. Group Workshops: assist in delivering digital skills workshops for small groups alongside a trainer, other volunteers and staff. This may include explaining basic computer concepts, online safety, using specific software or apps and following the Good Things Foundation’s Learn My Way curriculum.

  3. Troubleshooting: help individuals troubleshoot common digital issues, such as connection to wifi, resolving software problems or dealing with basic hardware concerns.

  4. Building confidence: Encourage and motivate learners to build their confidence in using digital technology. Offer ongoing support and encouragement within the structure of the workshops.

  5. Commitment: be able to commit to attend all or part of the course which consists of  Monday mornings 10am - 11.30am. 

  6. Availability: be available regularly for the above sessions.

What skills do I need?

  • A passion for helping others and promoting digital inclusion

  • Good communication skills and the ability to explain digital concepts in simple terms

  • Patience and empathy when working with individuals who may be new to technology

  • Basic knowledge of computers, smartphones and the internet

  • Reliable and committed to volunteering as agreed
