At Claygate Community Centre we are almost entirely volunteer run. with a group of trustees and about 50 volunteers running the centre six days a week. Our visitors are mostly older members, but we also have young families coming in for Tea and coffee at our friendly cafe and visiting the Waste to Plate shop on site.

We need volunteers to help in our friendly Cafe. Its a full size kitchen where we make Teas and coffees and Toasties. We have just invested in a new super duper Bean to cup coffee machine - but you don't need to be a barrister to operate it!.

Our Chefs in the professional kitchen make cakes which we also sell in the cafe.

We ask our volunteers to be in the Cafe either in the morning 9:00 - 1:00 or the afternoon 12:30 - 4:00pm. or Saturday Mornings.

What skills do I need?

Some experience of helping in a cafe or kitchen would be helpful - but a willingness to muck in is all that is really required.

Some of our clients are vulnerable older adults so being able to listen carefully and be willing to carry cups of tea to their table is needed.

We ask our volunteers to take a level 2 Hygiene certificate which can be completed on-line
