The Trust for Sustainable Living (TSL) is a global educational charity, with the aim of helping the next generation to achieve a sustainable future. We have an education centre called The Living Rainforest which welcomes around 100,000 visitors each year, including 25,000 children on school trips.

Visitors can experience the sights, sounds and smells of a lush tropical rainforest environment – and explore how plants, animals, human needs, economies and cultures are all linked. Our centre is home to over 850 species of plants and animals, including rare and endangered species of global conservation value.

The Animal Team volunteer duties include various aspects of animal husbandry, food preparation, enclosure maintenance and development, and lots of physical work! You must be OK with getting tired and dirty and handling creepy crawlies!! We have a small team of 3 keepers, 2 interns so volunteers in this area of our business are very valuable. 

What skills do I need?

Although experience is not essential for this role, a background in animal care or related subject is preferred. Full training and support will be given on all duties, and candidates must have a caring and responsible attitude, and be able to carry out practical tasks. All applications will be considered and will be taken on their own merit.
