We need volunteers!

Lambourn Youth Junction is thriving - every week we welcome more than 50 young people aged 9–14 (school years 5–9) who absolutely LOVE coming to youth club. They come to create, play, chat, compete, snack, and simply enjoy having a safe, positive place to be themselves.

We’ve got knitters, artists, board‑game strategists, pool and table‑football pros, craft lovers, sports enthusiasts, tuck‑shop regulars, and an all‑round brilliant mix of personalities. They’re an amazing group of young people, and they deserve a youth club that continues to open its doors every week.

To keep that happening, we need more volunteers.

We’re looking for people who can help us create a dynamic, fun, engaging, and safe environment. Roles are varied and flexible and you don’t need any special experience. We run a rota so everyone gets to move around and try different areas, including:

  • Welcome desk and sign‑in
  • Gatekeeping and safeguarding support
  • Tuck shop
  • Pool/table‑football supervision
  • Games area
  • Craft and creative activities
  • Sports and outdoor games
  • Project work (bring your own ideas!)
  • Sign‑out
  • Plus planning, fundraising, and governance for those who want to get more involved

Whether you can help set up, pack down, run an activity, or simply be a friendly, reliable adult presence, your time makes a real difference.

Youth club sessions take place at:  The Lambourn Centre, Close End, Lambourn, Hungerford, RG17 8NJ.

What skills do I need?

If you have some, or even all, or maybe just a few of the following qualities, we would love to invite you to visit us and see what its all about; are you patient? Are you a good communicator? Do you have energy, or at least enough for two 3hr sessions? Can you sit down and natter with a group of children about whatever interests them? Can you offer a skill they might like to learn? Are you sporty? Creative? Do you like games?.....

We need no qualifications, and we may be able to offer Youth Work qualifications for the right person/people... we can also offer valuable Safeguarding training.

The main and most important requirement is that anyone who volunteers for us must be able to muck in, help out, and have fun.

Time commitment: Our Youth Club sessions run each week on a Monday from 6.30-8pm. Ideally, we would like a regular commitment of a minimum 2 sessions a month (or more!), so that relationships and continuity can be formed... We would also really appreciate volunteers being able to help set up and close down (so and extra 30 mins each side), but we do appreciate that not everyone can manage this.
