About

Lambourn Youth Junction (LYJ) has been formed as part of the Lambourn Junction Community Interest Company. This company, which incorporates not only the Lambourn Foodbank but other community initiatives, has a vested interest in all members of our community including our youth. It is our aim through LYJ to provide a platform for which these young people can meet on a weekly basis in a fun, no pressure environment. Each week volunteers, in conjunction with Berkshire Youth (a local charity created to support young people in our county: www.berkshireyouth.co.uk), offer a number of structured activities as well as a space for coming together just to socialise; We have knitters, artists of all varieties, Wii players, board game players, pool champs, table football afficionados, we have pot noodle guzzlers, and coke chuggers, we have the most amazing bunch of young people who attend our village youth club each week. All our volunteers are DBS checked and receive safe-guarding training. Our core weekly offering includes a tuck shop and hot food counter which will allow the children to purchase sweets, cans of drink, crisps and hot food such as toasties and pot noodles. Free fruit, water and squash are also available. We ask for a suggested donation of £1 per session although this is totally voluntary and children will not be excluded if the fee is not paid. We ask all participants to sign in and out each week, and we encourage them to stay and enjoy the entire session. (This is, however, not enforceable and participants are free to leave at any point. As part of our safeguarding policy, we will call the emergency contact to let them know if their child leaves before the end time of the session).
