At Macmillan we give people with cancer everything we’ve got. Are you empathetic with good listening skills? Then we would love you to join our team as an Information and Support Outreach Volunteer at the Haem/Onc day unit at the Princess Royal Hospital, Haywards Heath and help us provide information and support to people affected by cancer. By sharing your skills and time, you’ll use and develop your communication and customer service skills and meet new people as part of a friendly team that makes a difference. Together, we can be right there for people with cancer. If you would like to be part of our volunteer team, apply to volunteer today!
What you will be doing:
Providing a welcoming environment and putting people at ease
Giving people an opportunity to talk about their experiences, including patients (and their families) who may be receiving end of life care
Signposting and referring people to local support services
Providing people with leaflets and websites that offer information and support related to cancer
What skills do I need?
Empathy and ability to relate and respond well to people
Good listening skills
Ability to work well in a team
Initiative and ability to refer complex issues to the right person when
needed
