Join the local governing body of Fullbrook school which is a large mixed secondary academy with a sixth form, located in New Haw, Addlestone, within the Surrey local authority area. The school serves a diverse community and is part of the Learning Partners Academy Trust, operating as a non selective provider for students aged 11 to 18. We exist to serve the communities of West Byfleet, New Haw, Pyrford, Byfleet and Ottershaw. We are looking for community members to join our local governing body to help us continue to maintain and enhance the education provision to our students.

What skills do I need?

We operate principally through half termly meetings and termly visits to school. The focus of the role is strategic no operational. Key skills/attributes are - assist the school leadership to devise and monitor the school's strategic development plan - read and understand management reports and formulate questions aimed at constructive support and -challenge focused on core priorities - ability to identify and assess key risks and support management and mitigation of those risks - ability to evaluate the impact of agreed actions and assess next steps - a commitment to helping young people develop and succeed

We meet once every half term, at 6pm at school. Meetings last 2 hours. The day of the week currently varies. There is an annual schedule agreed at the start of the academic year so that there is plenty of notice of meetings dates and times. In addition we ask members to undertake one visit to school each term, focused on a strategic priority area, and this would take place during the school day, and can be set up to suit the availability of the individual
