Friends of Newtown Road Cemetery exists to research the people buried in the 12,000+ graves in the Cemetery. It also promotes the flora and fauna in the Cemetery which is entirely natural and hosts moths, bats, bees, etc. plus a large variety of wild flowers and grasses. The Friends host Welcome Days at least 4/5 times a year at Remembrance in November, in April for Spring Flowers, Midsummer for moth release and bat talks. There is a regular programme of recording the inscriptions on the monuments and researching the people buried therein. This information is then published on our website. We work in close co-operation with Newbury Town Council who own the Cemetery.
