Volunteering Opportunities with Northamptonshire Carers

Northamptonshire Carers was formed in 1994 and is an independent local charity that is part of Carers Trust for Carers national network of Carers Centres and services. We are a countrywide service offering support to Carers and Young Carers. We are staffed by people who understand the physical and emotional strain that looking after someone can involve as well as the pleasure it can bring. Having a person to talk to and having rights explained can often help a carers situation. Listening to the experiences of carers enables us to help. One of the services we provide to help support Carers is the Carers Sitting Service. This takes the form of low-level support provided by volunteers e.g. befriending; where appropriate accompanying to external activities, to residents of Northamptonshire. It provides carers with time away from the caring role Support offered by the sitting service can be up to 3 hours in duration per session. Providing volunteers are available this can be a regular or semi-regular arrangement. Northamptonshire carers offers a comprehensive support service to carers living in Northamptonshire.
