The role in a nutshell: Whether you’re sorting donations, chatting with customers, or helping at the till, you’ll play a key part in raising money to support older people across the country. You don’t need experience What will you be doing? As a Volunteer Shop Assistant, you might do different tasks, such as: - Sort and price donated items. - Serve customers and use the till. - Keep the shop floor clean, tidy and well-stocked. - Talk to customers about Gift Aid. - Sell raffle tickets. - Create a friendly, welcoming environment for everyone. How would you be supported in this role? We’ll make sure you feel confident and supported from day one. You’ll get online and in-person training when you start, plus regular refreshers and ongoing support. We’ll cover agreed expenses and give you the chance to shape your volunteering experience. Why do we need volunteers in this role? Our charity shops fund Age UK’s work with older people. Volunteers are essential to keeping our shops open, welcoming, and successful. Your time and energy will help raise vital funds and support older people in communities across the UK. Additional information: We offer a variety of flexible shifts to fit around your availability. What skills, interests or experience might be helpful in this role? We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds and experiences. You don’t need shop experience — we’ll give you full training and support. What matters most is that you’re friendly, willing to learn, and happy to follow Age UK’s policies.
