We're excited to be part of Light the Night, a brand-new night walk bringing together hospices from across London to create one powerful, united movement in support of children and families.

This promises to be a truly special event, and we'd love your help to make it a success!

Date: Saturday 3 October 2026

Location: Central London

Route: A stunning 10km walk from the Honourable Artillery Company to the Royal Albert Hall

Time: 5:00pm - 10:30pm

Volunteer Roles Available

✅ Route Marshal

 Be positioned along the route (paired with another volunteer) to encourage participants, provide directions, and help keep everyone safe as they make their way through London.

✅ Start or Finish Line Support

 Welcome walkers, assist with registration, hand out event materials, cheer participants on, and help create an unforgettable atmosphere at the start and finish of the event.

This is a fantastic opportunity to represent Shooting Star Children's Hospices, meet fellow volunteers, and be part of a unique event that will unite hospices and communities across London for one memorable evening.

Your enthusiasm and support will help create an incredible experience for everyone taking part while raising vital funds and awareness for hospice care.

What skills do I need?

  • Friendly, welcoming and approachable
  • Good communication skills
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Confident interacting with members of the public
  • Able to follow instructions and work as part of a team
  • Enthusiastic and positive attitude
  • Comfortable standing and being outdoors for periods of time
  • Able to remain calm and helpful in a busy event environment
  • No previous experience is required. Full briefing and support will be provided on the day.
