Shrewsbury Repair Café hosts an event each month where members of the public bring broken or non-working household items in to be repaired by a team of volunteers repairers.
The Reception Team are the public’s first encounter with the Shrewsbury Repair Café and play a pivotal role in ensuring that the whole Repair Café runs smoothly and well.
The Reception Team will welcome every person who comes into the café, help them fill out a registration form and gather some basic information on the object they have brought in for repair.
They may introduce them to the repairer allocated to them. The Reception Team will direct the visitor to the refreshment area and keep them informed of the progress of the repair, always being friendly and respectful.
The Reception Team also take publicity photographs and videos, when consent has been given. Members of the Reception Team need to have a warm personality, an empathetic manner, good observational skills and a keen eye for detail.
All volunteers are asked, where possible, to assist in setting up the monthly event at the venue and returning the room back to normal use following the event.
The venue has full disabled access and facilities, free on-site parking for those attending the Repair Café and refreshments are provided throughout the day.
