About the role

We’re looking for a creative and reliable volunteer photographer to help capture the heart of our work — from community events and wellbeing sessions, to volunteer activities and real-life stories. Your images will help us celebrate people, promote our services, and show the impact of what we do across our website, social media, and reports.

Whether you’re a photography student building your portfolio or an experienced creative who wants to give back, your lens can help bring our mission to life.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Attend scheduled events, workshops or community sessions to take photos
  • Capture candid, respectful, and engaging moments
  • Edit and organise photos for digital use
  • Work with staff to understand what kind of images are needed
  • Ensure consent is obtained before photographing individuals
  • Share images in agreed formats and timelines for internal or public use
  • Help build an image bank of high-quality, inclusive content

Benefits to Volunteer

  • Build or expand your photography portfolio
  • Gain real-world experience in community, event and documentary photography
  • See your work published across social media, websites, and printed materials
  • Meet a diverse range of people and be part of meaningful local events
  • Use your creativity for good – helping raise the profile of community voices
  • Work flexibly with plenty of autonomy and support

  • Friendly, respectful, and professional in community settings

  • Sensitive to consent, privacy and cultural awareness
  • Some experience in photography (events, portraits, documentary or lifestyle)
  • You do not need to be a professional – we welcome emerging creatives
  • Familiarity with editing tools (e.g. Lightroom, Snapseed, etc.) is useful
  • Own camera or high-quality smartphone

  • Internet access to share edited photos
  • Mobile phone – for contact and coordination
