Northfields Allotments is hosting our annual Halloween Trail on Saturday 31st October, from 2pm–7.30pm. This is a hugely popular ticketed event, welcoming up to 4,000 visitors to explore our spookily decorated site, enjoy the atmosphere, tour the displays, and pick up something tasty to eat or drink.
The Halloween Trail has been running for over a decade and is entirely volunteer‑led. It’s one of Ealing’s most loved community events, and we couldn’t run it without the support of local volunteers.
We’re looking for friendly, reliable volunteers to help on the day. The minimum commitment is 2 hours, though many volunteers choose to stay for longer. Roles include stewarding, checking tickets at the gate, helping at refreshment stalls, and offering general support around the site. Clear guidance, support and training will be provided in advance.
It’s a genuinely joyful event to be part of — lively, welcoming, and full of community spirit. We make sure our volunteers are well looked after, with refreshments available throughout the day as a small thank‑you for their time and energy.
We’re looking for volunteers who are:
* Sensible and reliable, able to follow guidance and help keep the event running smoothly.
* Comfortable interacting with the public, offering a friendly welcome and answering simple questions.
* Fully and confidently mobile, as most roles involve moving around the site, standing for periods of time, or assisting at different points across the trail.
* Calm and practical, especially when helping to manage queues or busy moments.
* Happy working as part of a team, supporting other volunteers and contributing to a positive atmosphere.
No specialist experience is required — just a steady, friendly presence and a willingness to get involved. There will be support and guidance available.
